ACA Leader & Choosing Wisely Supporter Appointed Chair of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Board of Governors

Another Loss for Subluxation Management

The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) announced today that the ACA's Senior Scientific Advisor Christine Goertz, DC, PhD, has been appointed by the Comptroller of the United States to a three-year term as chair of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Board of Governors.

According to the release, PCORI was established in 2010 as part of the Affordable Care Act to fund research to help patients, caregivers, and their health practitioners make evidence-based, patient-centered healthcare decisions. Non-drug treatment for pain is among PCORI’s top research priorities.

The ACA and its gang of subluxation deniers have hijacked the term "evidence based" and have effectively stripped it of its original meaning based on their efforts to marginalize the practice of subluxation management in a vitalistic and salutogenic model.

Among other things, the ACA's policies do not allow for the taking of x-rays for the management of vertebral subluxation and members must sign a pledge adhering to the ACA's draconian guidelines.

According to ACA President Robert C. Jones, DC “It’s essential for consumers and healthcare providers to have reliable information when making healthcare decisions . . .” Jones, of course, is the point person for the Advanced Chiropractic Practice program out of New Mexico where chiropractors are able to prescribe drugs.
